Sheer Sunlight

Photobucket

This is what I wore to work today.  When I was getting ready this morning, I picked up this shirt and I thought I needed to have a black tank top inside, because as you can see, it is see through, which is borderline inappropriate if by any chance I came into work knowing that my breasts are the highlight of my outfit.  But then I tried it with just my nude colour bra and voila, it matched perfectly with my skin tone which disguised the effects the shirt.

The shirt was from Urban Planet for $12.99 of which I was ecstatic to have found, because other retail shops like Zara and Aritzia are selling these very similar shirts for way more than the bargain I got it for.  The necklace was purchased from Forever 21 for $17.00 and I know that Aldo also sells the exact same necklace, but for $20.00.  The skirt was from Dynamite which I think was for $10.00 and my booties are from Zara for $110.00.

Road Feel

Photobucket

Photobucket

Could you think of a better day to stand in the middle of the road and take advantage of the natural sunlight for your pictures?  Well for me, that day was today.  Luckily, my boyfriend lives in a neighbourhood that is peaceful and safe enough to do what I'm doing, compared to the buzzing City of Toronto where I reside.  In Ajax, the houses are beautiful, the roads are wide and clean, the air is crisp, and although it is quite far from the City life, I would definitely consider moving here when the time comes of starting my own family...but, let's not get ahead of ourselves her, lol.  I am a bonafide City Girl!

I'm wearing a vintage blazer purchased at Value Village for $12.99, white sheer tank from Wal-Mart, skinny jeans from Winners, chain from Aldo and booties from Forever 21.  When I bought this blazer, I also bought 2 more of which I will definitely showcase very soon as one of them is just a fantastic find!  You gotta love second-hand stores!

By the way, people have always asked me where I got my Ray Ban Aviators.  I got these at an Optical Shop back in Santa Clara, California.  I bought these on sale for $80.00.  I have had these for 7 years now and although I have dropped, scratched and sat on these babies countless times, it is still miraculously near-perfect and these are probably, by far, my best investment to date!

Mary-Kate and My Sam

Photobucket

Photobucket
This is the Sam Edelman bootie that I've been drooling on that is the next best thing to the original Balenciaga as fabulously seen on Mary-Kate Olsen. I don't know If I will ever be able to justify buying a pair of Balenciaga's at my income, but I can definitely settle for Edelman's excellent imitations.

Ryan V., you are a great friend first, and a rising brilliant photographer second! Your subjects are simply your tools, but it is your talent that truly shines through.
My friend Ryan and I found this location across the street from my apartment where an old factory is being renovated for a new loft residential and behind it was this empty lot filled with sand and rubble and walls with graffiti, which was apparently perfect for his concept of a rough background in-contrast with the femininity of the outfit.

So, who would've thought that a guy who designed the uniforms for his summer dodgball team would reach heights of fashion stardom? Introducing JUZD by Jing Liu! One day I decided to leave a wall message on Jing's facebook simply to congratulate him on all of his success for having Holt Renfrew showcase his first bamboo shirts, for running fashion shows in the U.S. and for having celebs like basketball star Chris Bosh and singer Estelle be fans of his design. These bamboo shirts are extremely comfortable, well fitting and fabulously designed by Jing himself. I wanted to know where I could get a hold of his fab shirts and he ended up inviting me to see his studio and chill. Jing and I ended up talking about his triumphs over his struggles in pursuing his dream and passion and how admirable I thought it was for him to push through despite facing failures and disappointments along the way. He is one of the testaments of how worth it it is to pursue what you love and to be aware of the risks that will face you so that you can be better mentally and emotionally prepared when it happens. Thanks for taking the time to hang-out Jing! It was a real pleasure and I wish you more and more success and happiness! You can grab the JUZD t-shirts at the best boutiques in Toronto or at Holt Renfrew, or visit his web-site at http://www.juzd.com/ for more details.

Hokie Pokie at John's

I was scheduled to have dinner at my friend's new place today, but our plan fell through so, I did not want to waste a perfectly good Friday with hot weather and decided to meet up with my friend RV. We met at the Starbucks at Queen and John which is one of the prime spots for celebrity sighting as it is in front of the Much Music studio and CTV headquarters. After, we decided to head to Montanas at John St. for a pint and had great conversations about pursuing one's passion in life, which was a very motivational talk and we both needed it. We then headed to Milestones across the street and met up with two of my good friends for an extended chatter which was always a lot of fun. We left at arounnd 9:30, strolled for a bit then I suddenly had a craving for some viet bun so we stopped by Ginger to grab some viet bun and avocado shake (my favourite). I wanted to stay out later, but I got tired and decided to go home, get rest and wake-up bright and early on Saturday and explore some Yorkville shops :D I will be back tomorrow and update you with my findings!
RV, thanks for being such a great friend, and an excellent photographer!

Derek Lam for Fall '09

This Fall, the Derek Lam collection has showcased a series of simple pieces that incorporate the feel of Fall with greys, silver, black and tan. I am a big fan of these types of ready-to-wear clothes especially as I work at a law firm and, luckily, our attire is not restricted to the professional collared-shirt, pencil skirt and suits ensemble. I find it quite challenging to express my personal style due to my profession, but the inspiration from this collection reassures me that this Fall, I will have fun in putting together my outfits to the office daily, with simplicity and style.
